Hello dear friends, I'm glad to be back and excited to start publishing my Weekly Coffee News directly on shesdaily.com blog.

This weeks blog posting of LWC ( Lisa's Weekly Coffee) is dedicated to Valentine's Day and precisely to a Romantic Dinner for 2.

My idea of a Romantic Dinner for 2 is all about food at it's simplicity with a touch of love. Therefore I'm sharing with you a few recipes I came across that seem to me to be easy to prepare and are themed well to Romance.


Appetizer and Champagne

Flirtini Cocktail source:about.com










Get a little flirtatious with this pineapple and Champagne .

Ingredients:
•2 pieces fresh pineapple
•1/2 oz Cointreau
•1/2 oz vodka
•1 oz pineapple juice
•3 oz Champagne
•maraschino cherry for garnish
Preparation:
1.Muddle the pineapple pieces and Cointreau in the bottom of a mixing glass.
2.Add the vodka and pineapple juice.
3.Stir well.
4.Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
5.Top with Champagne.
6.Garnish with the maraschino cherry.

To be honest Nocino does look like motor oil. Not sure it would work as motor oil though, but if you poured a couple of pints into your car’s engine, it would probably end up feeling rather happy while swerving and hiccuping its way down the road. At least until the engine succumbed to the alcohol content and exploded into a myriad of tiny fragments all smelling vaguely of walnut.

Indeed, Nocino is rather on the strong side, so drinking any more than a wee dram and then driving is not recommended.

Come to think of it, you should perhaps pop this fire-water right into the fuel tank… Sorry, I digress.


It’s cold and snowy all over Italy at the moment. Here in Milan it’s freezing, so it must be absolutely gelid up in them there mountains. To stave off the winter chill, those who are not nuts about winter weather might like to try an interesting little Italian tipple called Nocino.

Nocino, if you did not know, and knowing how good Italy is at telling the outside world about its hidden treasures, it is probable you did not, is a walnut based alcoholic drink which is quite common up here in the north of Italy.

Often this walnut liqueur is served to guests by country people in the Emiglia Romana region of Italy. Often said country people have created their very own potent versions of this nutty 80 proof drink.

I had a bottle of Nocino in the house which I finished today (It is cold). It was Nocino di Moderna, which can be found in my local supermarket – note that I live in Italy.

If you read on you’ll find out a little more about this Italian drink, and an official recipe for making it – but you will need to come to Italy in June to gather an odd number of walnuts in order to fulfil your Nocino dreams.

Silvercup Studios, housed in a former flour silo room of the landmark Silvercup Bakery opened in 1983. The landmark sign can be seen from the shoreline and above the buildings while riding the train, driving or walking by the water.


In a short time the studio has embedded itself into the landscape and has since been the site of many award-winning movies and television shows.

In its brief history Silvercup has been home to the HBO smash hit drama The Sopranos, NBC's comedy 30 Rock and Sex and the City.



Silvercup studios’ $1-billion project will become part of the Queens skyline.
The studio is also home to QVC's all-day shopping show, and where thousands of commercials have been taped over the years.

Silvercup has also been the site for several feature films.

These include Music and Lyrics starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore, El Cantante with Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony; and The Devil Wears Prada, with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.

Today it is one of the most sought after studios in the country. To satisfy the growing demand the studio will undergo a major expansion to its current facilities.

In 2006 the studio announced a $1 billion plan to expand to the Long Island City waterfront.

The three-building project, to be called Silvercup West, will include eight soundstages, along with 1,000 apartments, a catering hall, museum, and office and retail space. The plans also call for redevelopment of the booming waterfront of the 6-acre site, which will be transformed into a public esplanade.

The expansion plan features towers that will be 49 to 57 stories tall, visible from across the river. They will become a part of the Queens skyline, reflections of the borough's cultural growth.

Silvercup hopes that construction will be completed by 2009.
