First and foremost, check that your jewellery is insured for the correct amount and your insurance covers for loss away from home and at your holiday destination. Values change over time, and in the current climate it is likely that your diamonds and jewellery are worth more than you think.

• If you are travelling on public transport, trains, even planes in some instances, keep jewellery with you. Leaving the case or bag in which the jewellery is being kept unattended is inviting theft. Even hotel staff, who we hope are trustworthy, should not be allow to handle your precious jewels.

• When flying, keep your jewellery in your carry on board bag, and never in checked luggage. Sophisticated screening devices at airports can easily pick up objects of value. Better to have them on your person than whisked away into the luggage hold of a plane.

• Make two lists of the valuable items you are taking with you, leaving one at home with photos of the items. If by some chance a piece should get broken or is stolen or lost, you can then provide insurers with relevant information about your diamond jewellery.

• At your hotel, store jewellery in your room safe, or for really valuable items the hotel safe which is more secure than the one in your room.

• Pack your jewellery carefully. Wrap each piece separately in fabric before putting them in your jewellery case. This prevents pieces rubbing against each other which can cause scratching or breakage.

There are few looks that can make us feel better about ourselves than to have nice, tan skin. On the other side, having red, sunburned skin can make one want to never again show themselves outside. The summer is nearing closer, which means many of us will be taking the annual family trek to the beach, playing in the water and laying on the sand, soaking in all the rays. It can feel in an open area like there is nothing you can do to protect yourselves, but there are many precautions you can take in order to prevent getting burnt. Here are 10 moves you can make to ensure your skin gets bronzed, not torched:

1. Use an appropriate sunblock

Sunblock (or sunscreen) is ranked by sun protection factor (SPF). The higher the SPF number, the more protection from the ultraviolet radiation that causes sunburn. You should select an SPF based on your skin type and the activities you participate in. If you've used sunscreen but are still getting burned, upgrade to a higher SPF since the lotion is probably absorbing too quickly into your skin.

2. Visit a tanning salon

A few visits to your nearby tanning salon is another option. Having a base tan before hitting the beach will help you to avoid nasty burns.

3. Get some shade

The weather is beautiful, but there can be too much of a good thing. Taking a break from laying on the sand is a great precaution. Be sure to take trips indoors, or even sitting under an umbrella or wearing a wide-brimmed hat can help avert red skin. Staying indoors between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., when the sun is at its brightest, is another possible move.

4. Take a shirt along

It does seem like heresy to wear a shirt at the beach, but wearing one intermittently will help you.

1. Take medication

Ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatory medicines will help reduce inflammation and discomfort. These medications, however, should not be given to children.

2. Apply cream

If you're not experiencing blisters, then a moisturizing cream can help soothe the pain. Put it in the fridge before use and the comfort will be increased.

3. Avoid hot water

Taking a hot shower or bath can increase the pain. Running lukewarm water will help expedite the healing process.

Cherries not only make pretty desserts they make tasty ones. Try these delicious desserts to please your family and friends. Cherry and Cream Parfaits are very easy to make and they are pretty enough to serve guests. And the little ones will love having their own individual dessert along with the adults. Cherry Fantasy is a delicious cherry dessert atop a brown sugar nut crust. Yummy! The Cherry Cream Dessert is a gelatin dessert with cream cheese and sour cream. It is a perfect summertime dessert!

CHERRY & CREAM PARFAITS

1 cup whipping cream

3 tbsp sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

dash of salt

1 cup sour cream

1 can (21-oz) cherry pie filling

In a mixing bowl, whip the whipping cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, vanilla and salt continuing to beat until stiff peaks form. Fold in the sour cream. Take six cherries from the pie filling and set aside. Spoon half of the pie filling into the bottoms of six parfait glasses; top with half the whipped cream mixture. Repeat the layers. Add one of the reserved cherries to the top of each parfait. Add a mint sprig to each of the parfaits, if desired.

Note for Diabetics: This recipe can be made for diabetics by making the following substitutions: Splenda Granula instead of sugar and lite cherry pie filling made with Splenda instead of regular pie filling.

CHERRY FANTASY CRUST:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup chopped nuts

In a medium mixing bowl, blend the above ingredients by mixing the brown sugar and flour together. Add the butter and cut in as though making pastry dough. Add the chopped nuts and press the mixture onto the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Allow crust to cool. Crumble and spread evenly in the pan.

FILLING:

2 cups whipping cream

1 pkg (8-oz) cream cheese, softened

2 cans cherry pie filling

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla*

Whip the cream and set aside. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla together until well blended. Fold in the whipped cream and the cherry pie filling. Pour filling over the crust. Refrigerate overnight before cutting to serve.

*To change the flavor slightly, use 1/2 tsp vanilla flavoring and 1/2 teaspoon almond flavoring.

CHERRY CREAM DESSERT

2 pkgs (3-oz) black cherry flavored gelatin*

2 cups boiling water

1 pkg (8-oz) cream cheese, softened

1 cup sour cream

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup sugar*

1/2 cup chopped pecans

1 can crushed pineapple, drained

1 can cherry pie filling*

Dissolve gelatin in boiling water and pour into a 9 x 13-inch dish or pan; refrigerate until slightly firm.

Combine cream cheese, sour cream, vanilla, sugar, and chopped pecans; stir in pineapple. Spread mixture over set gelatin. Chill. Top with pie filling before serving.

*You can easily turn this into a diabetic or low-sugar dessert by using sugar-free gelatin,Splenda granular instead of sugar, and no-sugar added Splenda sweetened pie filling!

Italy has some great food, wine, cheese, beautiful women but even more beautiful beaches. When you're in Italy eating the great food, drinking the wine and eating the cheese don't forget to check out the great beaches with your skimboard as well.

Here's a list of some of the great beaches in Italy.

1. Capri: This beach is located in Southern Italy on the Sorrento Peninsula. Capri is a cool place that is full of mountains. This beach is known for it's deep blue sea and great beaches. There are a lot of resorts and hotels along this beach and you should have no problem finding a place to relax and skim across the sand on your board.

2. The Italian Riviera: This place has long been a tourist haven. Attracting thousands and thousands of visitors each year. The beaches here are free of charge but that also makes them crowded. If you do a little hiking along the trails that are there you can find some good beaches that are less crowded. This place is also famous for it's pasta, so after a great day of skimboarding help yourself to a big plate of delicious pasta.

3. Amalfi Coast: This place has some of the coolest cliffs you'll ever see. And you can't miss them as you're driving through to get to this beach. There are two private beaches here that you'll want to visit. The Fornillo beach and the Spiaggia Grande.

4. Tuscany: Famous for it's wine, cool rolling hills and old culture. However this place has some of best beaches with it's white sand and old style villages that are behind them. Not to mention that the water is a beautiful crystal clear color and there's about 100 miles of coastline. When you come here you need to visit Viareggio and enjoy the old festival that's been going on for more than 100 years.

5. Sicily: Sicily has long been famous in many movies. If you haven't heard of Sicily before then you need to watch the Godfather, Goodfellas and any other great mafia movie. Some of the great beaches here are Mondello Lido, Lido Mazzaro, the Aeolian Islands and Spiaggia Sabbie Nere.

6. Sardinia: There is 35 miles of beautiful coastline here that you must visit before you die. One of the beaches you have to visit is Sardinia's Costa Smeralda. Also hit the Emerald Coast, Cala di Volpe and the Prince's beach.

Italy is a great place. You'll never get bored, get tired of the food, the beaches or gazing at all the cool sites. Hitting Italy's beaches is something that you have to put on your to-do-list-before-I-die.

1. It's not just about the clothes

Being stylish isn't about how much you spend, and whether you can afford designer threads - the most important factors in developing your own style are that the clothes suit you and that they suit each other.

Clothes that balance each other out and form a total look are more than the sum of their parts. The main two things you need to work out are:

* Which clothes and accessories suit your figure and colouring

* Which of your clothes and accessories go together to create a total look.

That doesn't mean you can't focus on design and quality. But you don't have to in order to be a snappy dresser. The options for bargain fashion and secondhand clothes are endless. A good stylist can repurpose old clothes, and put boring clothes together with adventurous accessories in a way that's exciting and new.

2. Use trial and error

If you want to create your own style, there's no substitute for trying things on to work out the colours and cuts that suit you, and which colours and shapes suit each other. It's fine to buy on the internet, but try lots of clothes on in bricks-and-mortar stores. Each time, decide ruthlessly what looks right on you, what doesn't and why. You'll soon work out the colours, styles and shapes that are worth trying on and buying in future, or ordering online.

Books and websites with style information are great to speed up this process, but nothing beats discovering it through trial and hopefully very little error!

3. Aim for critical mass

If you want to create a total look each day, you need to develop a critical mass of clothes and accessories. You can't assume that just because some of your clothes match each other colour-wise they will look right together. You need to have plenty of styles, shapes and colours to choose from.

Sometimes things that should go together simply don't. A pair of skinny jeans may look great with a longline top, and totally wrong with a cropped top. Sometimes a military-style jacket looks right with a blouson-style top underneath, or it may look dreadful - you can't tell till you try it on. Sometimes wearing just one colour is perfect; sometimes it looks all wrong.

You need a certain amount of basic clothes so that you can mix and match - what these are will depend on your lifestyle. You'll also need winter and summer hats and scarves in different shades, and bags and shoes in basic colours like black, camel, light tan and dark brown.

4. Buy carefully

Having a critical mass of clothes and accessories doesn't mean hoarding clothes, overspending or buying everything you see - quite the opposite. It does mean you don't need to spend a great deal on every piece.

Always obey your intuition when deciding whether or not to buy. When you're about to buy something, ask yourself if it is going to suit your figure and look right on you.

Shop widely - don't rigidly confine yourself to one way of shopping. Op shops (thrift shops), garage (yard) sales, swap meets, swapping websites, eBay, and recycle shops (on and offline) are just some of the options.

Once you have a critical mass of clothes and accessories, you won't need to buy clothes frequently, and you can aim for the clothes you do buy to match those you already have.

5. Give yourself time to create your look

You need to allocate enough time in the morning to put a look together. If you're always rushed in the morning, planning your outfit the night before is a good idea.

Whenever you find a combination of your clothes and accessories that looks great, write the combination down in a notebook (including the shoes, scarf and bag that match the outfit). That way, when you're in a hurry you can use a combination that works.

Every now and then, try on some new combinations of your existing clothes to come up with new looks. When you bring home a new fashion accessory or clothes item, try it on with your existing clothes and accessories to work out what it goes with. Write the successful combos down in your notebook.

6. Look, adapt, copy

Adapt the styles of others, especially while you're learning. Follow fashion blogs and websites such as Facehunter and The Sartorialist, and look at them critically - do the colours suit the wearer? Is a long skirt flattering on a short person? Does it work to pair black shoes with a light-coloured outfit? Borrow fashion magazines from the library and get ideas. But don't just follow a style because your favourite blogger loves it, or buy a new dress because it's an exact match of what Kate Middleton is wearing - work out if it suits you first.

7. Use your imagination

Fashion is getting more and more cyclic. Current fashion is increasingly a mish-mash of different styles and eras. It's never been easier to team vintage clothes with new pieces, or create a look that is influenced by more than one era. There are also a huge number of blogs that show you how to repurpose op shop clothes or sew something from scratch. If you're not the crafty type, consider having an out-of-date item altered by a tailor.

8. Break out

Once you've been putting clothes combinations together for a while, and looking at fashion mags and websites, you'll probably want to experiment with creating totally original looks. Thanks largely to the internet, creative fashion is becoming much more acceptable in the mainstream. A great way of further developing your own style is to start your own blog, chronicling your fashion journey and asking for feedback from your readers.

Born on August 14, 1944 in Legnano, Italy, Ferre grew up in a traditional family where his mother taught him the value of discipline and education. He gained his degree in architecture in 1969. Threading a curved path to fashion, he started designing accessories the following year. He became a raincoat designer from 1972-1974. He started his own company called Baila in 1974.

Quality accent tables can be a big investment in your home décor. Even though you've taken every precaution to keep them looking like new, inevitably someone is going to scratch them, a stain will appear or you'll find some discoloration that makes your once beautiful accent tables candidates for the dumpster.

The good news is that they don't have to suffer this fate. With a little elbow grease, the right cleaning agents and some helpful household tips, you can restore the beauty of your accent tables, even removing large scratches with relative ease.

First, let's look a the small nicks and scrapes. These can usually be covered up easily with a product you can purchase at any home improvement store made expressly for this purpose. You can also use some shoe polish or use Sharpie markers. Color in the scratch and watch it disappear. You'd be amazed at how well this works. You can also use an empty shoe polish applicator and fill it with stain that matches your finish. The process is just like polishing a pair of shoes.

Water spots can be maddening when you find them on your accent tables. However, once they have dried completely, take a soft cloth and dab some mayonnaise onto it. Rub it on the spot until it disappears. Use real mayonnaise. Miracle Whip might be tangy on a sandwich, but it won't remove a water spot.

Any colored rings can be removed with a little toothpaste. Rub it in until the ring disappears. You can also use cigarette ashes in cooking oil. But if you're not a smoker, go with the toothpaste.

Candle wax can really ruin the finish on accent tables. But they are easier to remove than you think. If candle wax gets on the surface, let it cool and harden completely. Place ice on it so it gets brittle. Then scrape it off with a plastic (not metal) spatula. Polish it a bit to remove any remaining wax.

Of course, the best way to fix the damage to your accent tables is to prevent it to begin with. It's always a good idea to have lots of coasters around so when guests are over, they can place their drinks on the coasters instead of on your accent tables.

When you're entertaining, you want to make sure that you don't place any hot serving dishes on an unprotected table. Always place a hot pad, trivet, a couple of oven mitts or at least a thick towel under the hot plate to prevent burning and marring.

If you are using candles to set the mood, make sure they have a large base to them. If not, place the candleholder on a dish or trivet or use hurricane lamps instead so hot wax doesn't spill out and onto the top of your expensive accent tables.

You shouldn't ever polish or wax your wood with cheap commercial products available at supermarkets. These can harm the surface or simply add a layer of waxy film that will collect dust. If you really like the look of polish, use one part lemon oil to three parts olive oil. It will do the job nicely and leave a nice lemony scent in the room.

Usually, a regular dusting is all that is needed to keep your tables looking terrific. If they really need a deeper cleaning use a very mild dish soap that is diluted in water. You don't need a lot of soap. In the words of an old television commercial, "a little dab will do ya."

With just a little care and some light maintenance when your tables do get a nick or scratch, you should be able to keeping your furniture looking like new for years to come.

Less than two months after commencing his excursion from the North to South Pole, Swedish ExplorerJohan Ernst Nilson has decided to change route!

Due to the ice-drift and climate, Johan and his team have been forced west, away from their original route. Determined to push forward, the team has been forced to compensate by increasing their daily work dose, working twelve hours a day! With the onset spring, temperatures have reached approximately -10 Degrees Celsius, causing a lack of ice to the North of Greenland as snow has begun to melt.

This is not the first obstacle the team has encountered during the past few weeks! Johan was treated for frost-bites problems, a recurring problem he faced during his 2008 Seven Summits journey. The explorer also fell into the Arctic Ice! Trying to keep afloat while his skis and boots weighed him down, Johan was eventually dragged out of the frozen water by co-explorer Harald Kippenes (voicemail message attached).

With limited rations, the Pole2Pole team has been advised to travel towards Ward Hunt Island, on the North Coast of Canada.

Don't be afraid to experiment with color. Monochromatic color schemes are chic and will always be high in the fashion stakes, but it is time to break out.

One of the hottest colors to look out for is Coral. So vibrant and generally suits most complexion types. Orange, Jade and bright yellow are also popping up everywhere. If you are not so confident to wear such bright colors, go for accessories, shoes, bags or adorn yourself with beautiful jewelry.

Trousers - linen, linen, linen. Trousers should be partially or fully lined to avoid them becoming creased too easily. Look for a cotton mix to minimize creasing. Silk Hareem pants are stylish and beautiful. Can be worn with heels or a flat beaded sandal.

Accessories - Go to town literally. Sandals wedges are a must, flattering to the leg and comfortable too. While flip- flops are acceptable for the beach, you need something a little more chic for daytime and certainly evening.

Handbags and purses - match up with your footwear, clutch bags are simple, easy to carry and available in all sizes styles and shades of color. You could always add your own embellishments to add your own personal touch.

Jewelry - statement pieces. Layer necklaces; go bold with bangles and ear rings.

TIP#3- NATURAL FACE SCRUB- This must only be done no more than 2-3 times a week depending on the skin type. For e.g. if you already have an extremely dry skin, you can stick to exfoliating it maybe once every week, but exfoliation has to be done for both the face and the body.

In a small dish, take 1-2 tablespoons of sugar and add 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil and make it into a paste for natural effective exfoliation for both face and the body. The amount of sugar and the olive oil you use is totally up to you, some people would prefer their scrub to be more liquidity and some might want more solidified paste. Make it according to your preference and gently exfoliate your face by using slow circular motions. You can do the same technique for both the face and the body, but the face should not be exfoliated for no more than 2-3 minutes. Be gentle with your skin while exfoliating and don't rub it too hard, if you want baby soft skin, treat your skin like a baby!

After exfoliating your face with olive oil and sugar scrub, or even when you are in a rush and just washing your face quickly, splash cold water on your face for about 10-20 seconds. This will open the pores making it less visible and help lock the moisture firmly.

TIP#4- MOISTURISE- For this you can use any good moisturisers that you would normally use and gently moisturise your face and body to lock all the moisture. After all, moisturising has to be done to give the skin its finishing touch for that baby softness.

TIP #5- NO MAKEUP FOR BED- Last but not least, you must make sure that you remove all the make up on your face using olive oil which is also a natural makeup remover and wash your face gently and moisturise again before going to bed. Sleeping with your makeup on will clog the pores and stop your skin from breathing freely which will eventually lead to pimple formation and rough skin.
