Top Summer Fragrances And How To Make Them Last

Top Summer Fragrances And How To Make Them Last

Author: Roberto Sedycias

This summer is the perfect time to buy that fresh, fruity, or floral scent you have been waiting try. Whether you long to smell like a bouquet of flowers or like the ocean breeze, one spritz of these new fragrances will conjure up the delicious smell of summer. Also, learn how to make your perfume last all day and night.

Laugh Often by Reese Witherspoon for Avon is a soft blend of citrus peels, white and green tea, and pink peony. It is a light and airy scent that is perfect to wear on a hot and humid summer day. Burberry Summer is a citrusy mix of orange, mandarin, and green leaf. It smells crisp and clean and is neither too sweet nor too girlie. Untitled by Maison Martin Margiela conjures up a light grassy scent. Made with lentiscus, galbanum, boxwood, and incense, this scent begins fresh and dries down to a powdery finish.

Emilio Pucci Vivara Varianzioni Verde 071 is a soft green scent with a floral base of Turkish rose and neroli bigarade which balances out the sharp notes of mint leaves. Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Toit is an indulgent fruity scent that is not too childlike. It combines notes of apples and pear with magnolia for a fresh scent that is not too sweet.

Cranberry Splash by Marc Jacobs blends cranberries with red currant for a light yet vibrant fragrance that is perfect for day and night occasions. Guerlain Aqua Allegora Jasminora is a heady and beautiful scent that transports you to a garden by an ocean. The bergamot and white musk balance out a strong jasmine note. Gucci Flora Eau Fraiche is an update of the original. It combines bergamot and kumquat with a rose base and osmanthus for a playful scent that will make you want to throw on your lightest and brightest sundress.

Issey Miyake L'Eau D'Issey Summer Fragrance is a fresh marine fragrance inspired by the ocean. With notes of rose and pear water, this fragrance is crisp yet still feminine and pretty. One Summer by Calvin Klein smells like a sea breeze. Blended with tangerine and lemon, a spritz of this fragrance will make you feel like you're sipping seaside cocktails on the beach.

As the weather heats up, summer soirees begin, and beach getaways are planned, it gets harder to make the scent of your perfume to last all day. Here are some tips to keep you smelling pretty all day without having to wastefully spray yourself throughout the day. First make sure that your skin is thoroughly washed prior to applying anything. Before applying your fragrance, apply a body lotion or cream with the same scent as your fragrance. This will make the fragrance itself last longer without it being too strong or overwhelming. Identify your pressure points and ensure these are moisturized. The most common areas are your wrists, your neck, and behind your knees. Allow the moisturizer to be fully absorbed by your skin. Spray your perfume across your body, making sure to cover your pressure points for maximum staying power.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's Transformers 3 Premiere Hair with Leonor Greyl

Hairstylist Yiotis Panayiotou achieved Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s hair looks yesterday for LIVE! with Regis & Kelly and Transformers: Dark of the Moon using Leonor Greyl products.

Yiotis Panayiotu:

"Yesterday, I did two looks for Rosie: one style for day for LIVE! with Regis & Kelly, and one for the US premiere of Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Both looks were beautiful and sculpted with a healthy-looking shine, epitomizing the philosophy of Leonor Greyl."

"Every time I style Rosie’s hair, I begin with the same process. First, I bathe the hair in Leonor Greyl Shampooing au Miel, a gentle volumizing shampoo that can be used every day."

"Then, I make sure to condition her hair with a masque because it is vital to keep the hair well-nourished, especially in a humid, polluted environment like New York City. I like to use either the Masque Fleurs de Jasmin or Masque à l’Orchidée on Rosie, and I usually pick the Masque Fleurs de Jasmin for daytime and the Masque à l’Orchidée for evening."

"After bathing and conditioning the hair, I apply a few drops of Regenerescence Naturelle, a blend of botanical and essential oils and work it into the scalp for a relaxing massage. Then, I apply Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice to the hair and a little Lait Luminescence, a detangling milk, to the ends, really working them into the hair to allow them time to absorb and be more effective."
"
Then, I begin styling, making sure to not overdo it with products—I always want Rosie’s hair to stay light and volumized, and too much product will weigh it down."

"For Rosie’s LIVE! with Regis & Kelly appearance, I kept the look very simple and casual by blow-drying her hair completely dry with a combination of a small brush and a medium brush to give volume to the hair. After drying, I brushed through and applied Leonor Greyl’s Voluforme styling spray for volume and a light hold and some Sérum de Soie Sublimateur, a light-weight, anti-frizz serum, to the ends."

"For the Transformers: Dark of the Moon premiere, I wanted to go for a glamorous, Old Hollywood look to complement Rosie’s dress; it was almost Jessica Rabbit-inspired. This style transcends all cultures and hair types, and it is universally flattering."
"
After blow-drying again, I curled large sections of hair with a medium-barreled curling iron. The key to curling the hair this way is to react differently to the hair on different parts of the head: in the back, I curled upward starting at the ends of the hair, but to ensure that the curls fall nicely, stop before getting all the way to the roots. In the front and on the sides, I curled sections in alternating directions and pinned them into pin curls to allow them to set. Then, I removed the pins and lightly brushed through with a large, flat brush. I sprayed the hair with Voluforme again and applied a little more Sérum de Soie Sublimateur to the ends and pinned one side back for balance and texture. "

For many of us, summer is not only about going on vacations to the beach and spending weekends at the lake, but also about the great summer styles that we get to wear. When summer arrives, most of us are more than happy to ditch our sweaters, jeans and boots, and replace them with cute summer dresses, rompers, tank tops, and shorts.

Tanks available range from casual to the more sophisticated and dressy. A popular trend this year with racer back tops are the ruffle backs. The ruffle back tanks are so cute and have so much detailing to the back. Pair this type of tank with a cute pair of shorts, pull your hair up to show off the back, and compliments will fly your way. One shoulder and spaghetti strap tanks are also a huge trend. The one shoulder tanks that feature the ruffles along the one shoulder are so adorable. If your closet is not filled with great tanks, you better get to shopping so you can stay on trend this year.

In addition to great summer dresses and tank tops, rompers are a must for the summer closet. Many of us think that a romper is something that is not for us. How to Survive the Summer Heat in Italy

A Happy Italian Caffe Shakerato

Blog Post from Our Italy Contributor:
Alex Roe ItalyChronicles.com

If you’ve read some of the other posts on this blog you may know about the heat which dominates Milan, and just about everywhere in Italy from around June until the end of September.

Here’s what you can try to do to keep yourself from going mad and survive daily life in Italy in the heat of the summer season.

Italy and Italians are generally quite used to the heat, with the possible exception of one or two hardy types who live high up in the northern mountains, and in other mountainous regions in Italy.

So what do Italians do to try to deal with the absurd heat levels? Well, here in Milan there are several things Italians do, but perhaps the most common, and preferred, method of handling the heat, is that of escape. Milan does get very hot indeed during summer, but other Italian cities such as Rome and Florence can be stifling too.

Every weekend during the hot season much of Milan’s population runs for the hills at the weekends or charges off for the seaside (the lucky few alternate – having two houses to choose from).

This would seem to be the ideal solution, at least on the face of it.

The Great Escape, maybe
Assuming that you have or are renting a little place at a high enough altitude to remain cool (and mozzy free) or down by the sea, one of the chores of heading out of the city is just that, heading out. It would seem that the whole of Milan, where I live, and many other Italian cities for that matter, migrate during summer weekends and this leads to some of the most horrendous traffic jams you have ever seen in your life. Only these jams happen more or less every weekend during the summer escape season. Throw in an accident, or two, and the blast up to the mountains or off to the coast, can turn into something which is far from relaxing.

Whereas you may be lucky when leaving Milan and get to your summer retreat in a reasonable time, coming back could well be arduous, two hour trips can easily turn into six hour tortures. Even more if there is an accident.

While leaving Milan seems to be a good way to keep your cool in the heat of the Italian summer, you may well end up finding your stress level maxing out in the horrendous return traffic jams. I won’t mention the accidents which are common at this time of year. Oops, sorry, I just did.

One way to avoid the return trip traffic jams seems to be to wait until after 9:00 pm before heading back to Milan. After this hour, traffic levels are lower and queues shorter. Indeed, those who leave at 9 may well arrive home at about the same time as those who depart at 5 or 6 pm.

Luckily there is an alternative to summertime driving hell – the train.

If you book seats, online, for both the away and return journeys, you’ll be OK. Italy’s rail service is not too bad, and reasonably priced too. You’ll also avoid being slapped with a fine for driving into one of Italy many limited traffic zones or ZTLs, as they call them here. These fines are becoming an increasing problem for foreign drivers, as can be seen from the 500 plus comments on the post Speeding and Other Traffic Fines in Italy.

Then again, you could always stay in the city.

Have a Fine Time in Italy with these Travel Safety Tips

Blog Post from Our Italy Contributor:
Alex Roe ItalyChronicles.com

First of all, Italy is generally a safe country to travel in. However the unwary can end up with problems. The biggest of these problems are those of petty theft and the cloning of ATM and credit cards.

To be honest and as correctly pointed out by Italian Italy Chronicles reader Marco in a comment below, the problems travellers may face in Italy are very similar to the kinds of problems facing tourists in London, Washington and any other major tourist destinations. If anything, Italy is safer than many other countries around the world. The chances, for example, of inadvertently wandering into gang land in Italy are virtually zero.

Murder and rape are uncommon crimes in Italy, and Italy comes 47th in the world in terms of murders per 1000 people – this is a third of the murder rate in the USA. And don’t worry about getting caught up in the middle of a mafia war!

As the holiday season is just about upon us, here are some travel safety tips to help ensure your trip to Italy remains as pleasant as you expect and that unexpected surprises are kept to a minimum.

While these travel safety tips apply to Italy, they may well help anyone travelling in any unfamiliar land – not just Italy.

That old adage, “better safe than sorry”, really does count. And prevention is always better than cure, to coin another cliché. Call it “risk management”, if you will.

Especially valuable items like top of the range digital SLR cameras and equipment may require separate insurance.

While not exactly travel safety, you will also find some information on high fines which tourists in Italy can receive if they do innocent seeming little things like wearing bikinis, building sandcastles and buying handbags from the friendly, if annoying, beach-roaming salesmen.

Handbags
Women are more susceptible to theft than men owing to the fact that many carry handbags.

Women’s handbags are amazing things. Some are a large a sacks and the contents can be extremely diverse! The weight of these portable life-containers can be such that it’s surprising that their carriers do not walk with a lurch.

Anyway, handbags are a favourite target of thieves in Italy. Unsavoury types will either rifle through a handbag while you are distracted, or will simply take the whole bag.

Choose Your Bag Wisely
Right ladies, I’m about to give you a great excuse for going out and shopping for a new handbag for your trip to Italy!

The choice of handbag can make a difference. Aside from shoulder straps – which are a must-have, try to take a bag with inner compartments which have zips – and keep money, documents and other vacation essentials like mobile phones and cameras zipped in these inner pockets.

Bags with zippers are a better idea for travellers than handbags with clasp fastening systems as unzipping a bag is more difficult than undoing one of those convenient (for thieves!) magnetic clasps. Yes, a difficult to open bag may be a pain to use, but it will also be a pain in the neck for thieves too, who will pick on some other lady – probably someone with a clasp-closed bag. Thieves are very well informed on such things and may be tempted to change target if they realise that the bag in question is not going to be easy to open.

Of course, keep all bags closed at all times – make a habit of closing your bag immediately after opening it – ladies who leave their bags open are easy meat for dishonest types.

Shoulder Straps
Ladies should have bags with shoulder straps, and should make sure they do not walk with their bags facing the street side. And keep your hand over your bag, like Italian ladies do, for added security.

In the enticing, narrow and atmospheric side streets of Naples and Palermo, scooter mounted thieves will ride by (even in Italy’s northern cities, scooter thieves prowl), and may cut the shoulder-strap with a knife before whizzing off into the distance.

A big Handbag with a Shoulder Strap
If possible, carry credit cards, money and other documents on your person, so if you do become ‘separated’ from your handbag, you’ll still be able to get by.

Wallets, Gentlemen
Men usually keep them in their pockets, which, of course, is common knowledge to the world’s pickpockets.

In crowded areas – read most of Italy’s tourist honey pots – wallets carried in back pockets make an attractive target for thieves.

To reduce the risk, don’t carry a wallet, or if you do, carry it in a marsupial type bag which should be mounted under your tummy.

Alternatively, carry cash in your front trouser pockets (banknote clips are a good idea) and keep credit cards in one of those slim transparent plastic cases in the same place. Just watch out you don’t dislodge those banknotes when you pull out your hanky to mop that sweaty brow!

These tips should help you avoid unnecessary loses ...... Read More

Summer Beach Cover-Up Options

Summer Beach Cover-Up Options

By Jennifer Delrue

You don't have to love the beach to take advantage of the many different beach cover-up options within the women's casual wear industry today. Summer is all about feeling comfortable and looking great and designers like Elan International have accomplished this perfect balance for you. In the past, the only real beach cover-up we had to choose from was the sarong in a few different colors. Today the fashion designers have upped the ante and provided us with nearly half a dozen different cover-ups that can be worn to the beach and worn on their own as well. No one wants to have to spend the money on a piece of clothing that can only be worn on the beach; we want versatility!

With versatility in mind, we would like to start this article by discussing the power of the summer dress. No matter which style you are partial to a great summer dress can easily double as a beach cover-up. For example, the halter dress has been a summer favourite for decades and the same is true today. As you know this dress can be worn on its own as casual wear, it can be dressed up for evening wear and worn as a beach cover up. This incredible versatility makes it a great investment! The recent tube dress craze has altered the beach cover up world as well. Although this is a tight fitting dress it can still be worn as a cover-up as well as a dress on its own.

By going into your closet right now you likely have at least one tunic in there. You can barely walk into a fashion boutique today without seeing a tunic in one form or another and this is not only true for winter trends but spring and summer as well. Some of the summer trends in terms of tunics include sheer materials and bright and bold colors. Sheer is definitely the best and most popular option for a beach cover-up but don't worry you can still wear this fashion top away from the beach. Sheer tops can easily be layered with different tank tops and bandos in order to keep you covered while still maintaining the sexy appeal of the sheer material. If you are not comfortable with this much skin showing you can most definitely layer a sheer tunic with a tunic t-shirt for maximum coverage and maximum fashion.

The jumper trend brought back from within fashion history is great beach wear and a sexy day or night ensemble as well. Jumpers come in a number of different fabrics and colors and they literally suit any body type. Floral patterns are at the top of the list in terms of this fashion style but neutral and solid jumpers can also be a great choice. A jumper can easily be put on and taken off at the beach and this is exactly what you're looking for in terms of covering up at the beach.

Now that you are up to date on the latest beach cover-ups head out and freshen up your look!

Are you wondering what fashions and trends are coming up for spring 2011? J.Delrue is the fashion blogger who can help you with this. Whether you're interested in dresses for women or a beach cover-up, she knows what's hot and what's not this year!

Romance Isn't Dead - You Just Need the Four Ls

Romance Isn't Dead - You Just Need the Four Ls

By Imogen Croft

In this age of equal opportunity, sham marriages and speed dating, we need to ask: is romance dead? Despite the fact that the idea of wanting to spend your life with one person is a pretty alluring ideal, marriage has been on the slide since the 1970s. So, do we give enough time of our busy lives over to romance and being romanced? Is the contemplation of thoughtful displays of affection too over the top for modern-day dating? Do we even consider how we'd like to be treated if we were to be swept of our feet? Dating life is full of after-work drinks and silent cinema watching. Where is the truly selfless act of an adoring gesture? There are a few little things to take into consideration when you're desperate to turn up the heat on your romantic-o-meter:

Location

The location for your great romance doesn't have to be Paris or Venice. You can create a moment in your own home. This is the easiest way to implement romance and to do it on a shoe-string. The most important thing is to re-enact this romantic side again and again - and where better than your own home. So, that means that your bedroom needs to be kept as though it's a geisha's. Piles of clothes, a wobbly bed or bulging drawers just don't cut it.

Lighting

The correct lighting is paramount to set the scene, no matter where you are. If you're not lucky enough to have dimmer switches, abandon main lights altogether; scented candles and table lights give a soft hue to the surroundings. Imagine a silhouette of you in your most sexy lingerie, poised to woo your man.

Luxury lingerie

Feel your best in some fabulous lingerie. Men are rather astute when it comes to the feel of lingerie (they might not know their corsets from their suspenders) but they love to touch silky soft luxury lingerie. Exactly what lingerie that might be isn't too important (as long as you feel wonderful wearing it). Maybe ask him to touch your thigh at dinner, if he feels stockings and suspenders, he won't be able to think of anything else until he sees your clothes on the floor and you in your luxury lingerie.

Landscape

If you fancy booking a naughty weekend away, awe-inspiring views can be extremely sexy and romantic. Imagine an ancient city like Istanbul stretching out in front of you from a hotel room where you can see the cities lights twinkling in the background. Actually, city breaks can give the most exciting views, teasing you to come out to play. Or take a heat-drenched holiday, with the warm breeze wafting through your hair or over your bodies on a Mediterranean island.

Imogen Croft is a copywriter and online marketer who loves her sexy lingerie. From bras and basques to stockings and suspenders, if it's luxury lingerie she tries to make it her business to know about it.

Caribbean Cruises - Relax and Explore the World!

Caribbean Cruises - Relax and Explore the World!

By Cathal Doorley

Planning a cruise to the Caribbean? It's not random chance that made it one of the most popular destinations for cruises worldwide, as you may be guessing - the Caribbean is a must-see destination for anyone who wishes to enrich themselves and explore the world in all its unique aspects and niches. And if you've never even been to an exotic location before, then you're definitely in for quite a ride - your first Caribbean cruise may not be your last one, and there's a good chance you'll want to come back at a later point to explore even more.

If you're passing by the Grand Cayman, you can take up some extreme swimming opportunities, amidst dangerous waters but also lush environments. You can even get a face-to-face meeting with some stingrays if you're feeling brave, so if you're a fan of extreme adventures, now's the perfect opportunity to get some of that!

And if you are a fan of a relaxing stroll late in the afternoon, check if your cruise passes through St Lucia - one of the best destinations for taking a stroll, or even riding your bike down the virgin forest areas. If you go for the latter though, make sure you have a really sturdy bike and also quite a bit of experience riding it!

At Puerto Rico, you can do some spelunking and explore the caverns at the Rio Camuy Cave Park, some of which are incredibly huge and impressive to see from the inside. Also here, you can check out the Arecibo Observatory, which is famous for housing the largest telescope in the world. If you're a fan of science and especially astronomy, you should have a blast visiting this one - just make sure you observe the camera rules as they can be somewhat strict and specific.

Most of the worlds best cruise lines operate in the Caribbean with sailings from places like Miami and Fort Lauderdale. As you already know, the Caribbean is a wash with stunning palm fringed beaches, white sands and turquise blue waters and a Caribbean cruise can be a fantastic way to see alot of this area. However the downside of a cruise is that it leaves you wanting to stay there for longer. On cruises you only really get a day on land and this can be a bit annoying but it does allow you to see more places. If you fall in love with a place you can then come back on a regular holiday to enjoy it longer.

Cathal worked as a travel consultant for 2 years before leaving to travel the world for a further 2 years. He now works as an online marketing executive at the same company. Who has the best cruises? That's easy. Check out Caribbean Cruises right now to see how you can start perusing the best cruise options right online. You can get a great array of choices and compare prices the easy way-by going straight to the lowest ones. Visit Travel247 right now to get started.

Fruit Tea Recipes Are A Summer Hit

Fruit Tea Recipes Are A Summer Hit

By Sandra Fierling

Now summer is showing its beautiful face, it's time to consider cold drinks. Fruit tea is a great choice and much healthier than many summer beverages like iced tea and sodas from your local supermarket. Here you will find some easy recipes for fruit tea that will have your friends and family asking for more.

When you make fruit tea yourself, you get to choose everything - the type of tea, what you would like added to it and the amount of sugar/sweetener. In other words you are master of your summer tea!

For example you could simply make your favourite black tea, let it cool and serve it with ice cubes and lemon - adding some frozen berries makes it into a very special drink - raspberries are my favorite as they are not so sweet and they look good in the golden liquid.

My favorite is rooibos tea. I usually drink at least one cup per day (hot) and as I always make it in a teapot, I simply pour the left over tea into a glass jug which I keep in the fridge - therefore I have my own specialty iced tea available always throughout the summer. I can jazz it up with mint leaves and lemon, I can add fruit to it (lemon slices or even apple or peach slices look great). This tea is healthy and so versatile.

Peppermint is a great tea for hot days as it does cool you down. Again, make your peppermint beverage and cool it down in the fridge. Lemon slices and ice cubes do it proud - and don't forget some peppermint leaves as well.

I never sweeten my tea but if you want to do so, think of natural sweeteners like argave, honey or stevia. Give them a try and you'll be surprised.

If you like your summer drink bit sweet, then you can always try Honeybush tea - a cousin of rooibos and also from South Africa, this is naturally sweet. As with rooibos, cool it down in the refrigerator, add lemon slices and ice cubes and you're ready to go.

Hibiscus tea is naturally a beautiful red color and tastes great on its own with iced cubes. Adding orange slices enhances the flavor but you can also use strawberries as they blend in very well.

Teas area so very versatile, especially when consumed cool or cold with ice cubes and other fruity additives like fresh fruit slices and some mint. Next time you want to surprise your friends and family at a summer get together, try some of the recipes above. You won't be disappointed!

When we buy a new gadget, spending a lot of our savings on it, we expect everyone to notice and appreciate it. An iPad is a source of everybody's delight because it not only looks great, but has awesome functions too. We take extra care to see to that its life is prolonged and it doesn't meet with unfortunate accidents. Accessories are very important to every gadget that is vulnerable to accidents like falls, etc and so is the i-Pad. The one accessory that will both enhance its looks and protect its surface is definitely sought after. Fortunately, the leather cases are designed to make your i-Pad feel at home, comfortable and safe, while you can vaunt all about its sheer elegance and simplicity.

While buying a leather case, one must make sure to check its quality. Sometimes, cheap quality cases are fabricated and are sold to impersonate good ones. The best leather cases are made of exceptional quality leather obtained from cow hide, which is properly tanned using complex machinery to remove coarse substances and is processed thoroughly to obtain rich and splendid material that feels like heaven and looks admirable. Nobody can resist touching the cases.

Colors give life to an object and quality leather cases just prove this maxim. Bold and attractive colored products are made for the strong and striking persons and mild and subtle colors are for the shy yet ingenious persons. If the cases are available in various colors, choosing one that matches your gadget as well as your personality is fun!

Pattern on a leather Case can transform a simple looking cover into an exquisite work of art. One can choose from have everything from simple but beautiful patterns to impeccable and ornate designs that capture your heart.

The function of any article scores over its appearance and feel. A chic looking case that lets the i-Pad in it to break easily would be an utter failure. A new but successful concept that has been implemented by all leather case manufacturers is the sleep/wake function. It puts the i-Pad to sleep mode automatically whenever the case is closed and lets it come to life when the lid of the case is lifted - this helps in saving the battery of the gadget. When one wants the right leather case for an i-Pad, an elegant and exceptionally functional case is the best choice.

Easy, Breezy Summer Dressing Tips

Easy, Breezy Summer Dressing Tips

By Ginger Burr

I don't know about you but in New England we went from winter to summer overnight. One day it was 49 degrees and drizzling and the next it was 85, sunny and humid. I hate it when that happens. There's a whole section of my closet waiting to be worn!

Of course, wait 5 minutes and it could all change again. I keep hoping we'll have a peek of spring sometime in the next month before we go to real true summer. But, that's the beauty of New England...you just never know.

When the weather changes so dramatically one of two things happens:

  • You're so excited that warm weather has finally arrived that you throw caution to the wind and shed clothing with abandon.

  • You were freezing one minute and now you're hot and you stare miserably and hopelessly into your closet trying to figure out how to adapt.

So, let's back up. While the first scenario might be more fun than the second (at least in the short term), chances are good that after a while you'll think...Yikes...I'm feeling cooler but I'm not sure this is the best look for me. Sometimes this leads to a fun shopping session and sometimes it leads to the second scenario above!

Before you get stuck...

Let me share some tips for dressing well, comfortably, and authentically for the summer season (and for those of you who are experiencing winter right now, save this, and it will come in handy in a few more months!):

  • Be prepared. While about mid-February we think spring will never come, it always does. And, often it seems to catch us by surprise. There are several reasons that being prepared makes a difference.

    • You'll have more choices. I agree that the retail shopping schedule is nutty (it's hard to think about buying sleeveless tops when the temperature outside is hovering around freezing, but you must). If you wait until the weather warms up and you realize you need things, it could be too late. Yes, the stores are already going into sale mode and it's barely June!

    • It will save your sanity. If you have ever tried to put together a seasonal wardrobe when we're in the middle of the season you know that yes, you might luck out and get everything you want (on sale even). But, more often what happens is that by the time you shop there is little left to buy...at least in your size (or so it seems). You find a great skirt but no top to go with it or you have a great pair of capris but all the good shoes in your size are gone. Not only will your sanity suffer but you'll waste time inside agonizing over how to put together a wardrobe when you could be outside enjoying the warm weather.

    • Is your weather fickle? In New England (and maybe other places as well) you must be prepared for the possibility of either a cool summer or a brutally hot one (like last year). By the time you know for sure what the weather will be Fall clothes are in the stores so be prepared either way or you'll be out of luck about late July if you guessed wrong!

  • Dress to Express. Remember my article on never settling for just 'good enough?' This is a season when I see a lot of that going around. Knowing who you are and how to reflect your personality in your wardrobe whatever the season is, is super important. It's the missing link for many women. Yes, the summer throws in monkey wrenches like sandals, capris and lightweight (a.k.a., less forgiving) fabrics, but that means it's even more important to stay true to yourself. Please never settle for just good enough! There is always a better choice (or else leave it on the rack). Listen to your inner guidance for cues as to what really speaks to you.

  • Understand Your Needs. Are you always hot...cold? Do you walk a lot so you need super comfortable sandals? Do you have to crawl around on the floor (with children, as an IT specialist or organizing guru), or do you run board meetings and have high-powered lunches? What about leisure time, vacation, and dressy summer events? When you are in the dressing room, be sure to ask yourself, "When will I wear this?" and "How will I complete this outfit?" The last thing you want to do is get home and realize that you bought some fun things but you still have a lot of wardrobe loose ends!

  • Have a Back-Up Plan. If your favorite designer has gone crazy and shows everything in chartreuse or only cap sleeved, flimsy T-shirts with cargo shorts, you want to be sure you know where to turn next. Having 2, 3 or 4 stores where you like to shop can make a frustrating shopping trip more productive and fun. You just leave and head to another store.

  • A love affair with linen. One of the first questions I ask clients at this time of year is...do you love linen or hate it. No one is neutral on this! If you love it great, but you might want other alternatives for those days when linen doesn't feel right (you're not in the mood for the rumpled look) or you just want a change. This season has been great for that.

There are lots of pretty jackets and sweaters with a loose weave that let you stay cool but still feel covered, pulled-together, or professional (or whatever your reason is for wearing another layer).

Or, a short-sleeved jacket can be a good alternative (be careful, though, this look can get frumpy in a heartbeat).

I'm sharing this now because there is still time to create a fabulous wardrobe for the summer. Hey, it's a beautiful season when we don't have to be all bundled up and wearing our snow boots. You want to spend as much time as possible enjoying the experience and not dreading getting dressed every day. Take a few minutes to plan your wardrobe now and then you can relax and enjoy the rest of the season with delicious abandon!

Do you avidly watch shows like "What Not to Wear" and think "if only I could have a wardrobe makeover," but you can't see how the transformation would translate for you? Then I can help. Over the past 23 years as a fashion stylist in the Boston area, I have found that many women are ignoring, hiding or are just plain unaware of their innate beauty. Believe it or not, you do not have to be rich and famous or young and thin to have the look you dream of. Yes, with a little guidance you can learn how to dress with joy and ease.

Click here for my Free "Beauty Tool Kit" http://www.totalimageconsultants.com/subscribe.shtml

While my fashion secrets have been featured in the Boston Globe, cnn.com and Women's Health Magazine (to name a few), it is my clients' triumphs that really bring me the greatest joy: "Every day I get so many compliments on how I look. You gave me the tools to put it all together, and I am very grateful. This season I purchased many new clothes and before I had a closet filled with clothes of "nothing to wear" now I have a closet filled with clothes, but I can't decide what to wear because I have so many favorites." -- Celeste

Refreshing Summer Wines

Refreshing Summer Wines
By Mara Stanziani

A summer wine is a light wine meant to be enjoyed during the hot Summer months. It is refreshing, light enough to keep from weighing the drinker down and well suited to lighter summer foods. Generally a Summer wine is simple. fresh, fruity and sweet, and is low in tannins and other factors that can cause a wine to feel heavy.

While most people think of a cool glass of white wine on a hot Summer day, the right red can also be refreshing and light. Some of the more popular varieties of summery wines as Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling or Syrah. A popular alternative to these wines is a fruit wine, including those made from such berries as strawberries, blackberries or raspberries.

One more point to keep in mind : Summer wines don't have to be paired as stringently with food as one might normally think. A light white wine can be a lovely accompaniment to a hamburger or a steak on the patio.

What Is The So Called Monokini Swimsuit?

What Is The So Called Monokini Swimsuit?

Author: lisa

The monokini swimsuit is said to be used by both men and women during the early days. It is like a bikini with straps that will attach to the shoulders. Actually, the monokini swimsuit before was worn to expose the breasts which is quite shocking – which is mainly the real reason why the monokini swimsuit fashion died after a few years of popularity.

Since the fashion world never stops innovating and perfecting old styles to make it a new one, the designers thought of redesigning the monokini swimsuit to a more conservative looking swim wear.

Today's modern monokini swimsuit would still show the same bikini with straps that will attach to your shoulders. These straps are made with a wider width which will cover the breasts or serve as the bikini top. Some monokini swimsuit on the other hand will still show the traditional look of a two piece but somehow connected together by a string of cloth either in the middle or sides.

If you have a very sexy body with perfectly shaped breasts and well defined hips and waist, this monokini swimsuit is best for you. This piece will emphasize your entire body especially if you have a long torso or if you have an hour glass type of body.

Since the monokini swimsuit cannot provide securing your breasts in place, this piece is not intended for full swimming but for shows only. It is highly recommended that you fit the monokini swimsuit before buying because there is a very big chance of you not having the right one for your size. Getting the right size of this type of swim wear does not really rely on the size of bikini you wear. It relies mostly on the style and design. The top and bottom part should fit your body really well and never allow any loose areas. Be sure to check every angle of your body while you have it on because due to hygienic reasons, you cannot return a swim wear from any store once you have made your purchase already.

The price of a monokini swimsuit is relatively more expensive compared to the other types of swim wear maybe because it is the newest trend when it comes to swim wear. So if you think you have the guts and the perfect body to wear this new type of swim wear, and if you have the money to spend, no one is stopping you from following the newest trend.

Walking in Majorca - Exploring Modern-Day Palma

Le Sue Cathedral in Majorca

Walking in Majorca - Exploring Modern-Day Palma

By Tony Maniscalco

Many travellers are interested in exploring the wild countryside of Majorca, but for those who hope to enjoy a little civilisation and culture on their Majorca holidays, Palma (formerly known as Palma de Mallorca) is definitely the place to be. There is a vast difference when it comes to the urban or rural scenery when it comes to a holiday walking in Majorca. Visitors to Palma will be likely to begin their exploration at the Plaa d'Espanya, the city's transport hub, and home to the Ferrocarill de Soller, a railway station dating back to the line's creation in 1911.

The Old City

The Old City is located in the south-east area of Palma, behind the cathedral, and is formed of a fascinating maze of streets, hinting in their design towards a Middle-Eastern presence on the island. The walkways are narrow and atmospheric, with ornate buildings. Walking in Majorca down these picturesque streets strikes many visitors as being vaguely reminiscent of Venice. Most of the buildings are private residences, though a few are open to the public and house museums or galleries. The characteristic metal boxes, carvings and overhanging eaves of these buildings give a contrast to the views of the bay from the Old City walls.

The Arab Baths

Known locally as the Banys rabs, the baths are one of the few remnants of Palma's Moorish past, and are accessed via the Ca'n Serra street near the Convent of the Cathedral. Interestingly, the small two-roomed brick building that houses the baths is in fact of Byzantine origin, dating back to the 11th century and theorised to have originated as part of the home of a Muslim nobleman. Walking in Majorca will often allow a curious traveller to uncover unusual facets of the island's history and Palma is no exception. With features such as the Arab Baths waiting to be discovered, it's definitely worth taking time to explore a little further on your walking expeditions.

La Seu

Palma is famous for La Seu, the Roman Catholic cathedral built on the site of a pre-existing Arab mosque. It took many years to construct, with work beginning in 1229, and only finishing in 1601 - about 300 years later! Designed in a Catalan gothic style, the cathedral also features northern European influences. Overlooking the Parc de la Mar and the Mediterranean sea, La Seu provides some wonderful architectural delights, and the many benches shaded under a long blue and yellow canopy are the perfect spot to take a break, relax, and put your feet up while enjoying the serenity of Palma.

Walking in Majorca through the streets of the island's jewel, Palma, will not only allow you to experience the beauty of the landscape, but also the beauty of the rich history of the region.

Tony Maniscalco is the Sales and Marketing Manager for Ramblers Worldwide Holidays. Join us walking in Majorca to see scenic locations & landscapes at the best value prices. We offer over 250 guided group walking holidays in over 65 different countries.

A Step Back into Time

By: Felicia M. Hazzard

Recently I received a generous 3.4 fluid ounce/100ml of QUELQUES FLEURS ROYALE EAU DE PARFUM by the house of HOUBIGANT-PARIS.
I was so elated by this offering from the legendary perfume house that I had to share my experience with you.
QUELQUES FLEURS ROYALE EAU DE PARFUM is not just a beautiful scent; its essence comes from a historical perfume made for royalty over a century ago.
HOUBIGANT was a perfume manufacturer founded in Paris, France by Jean-Francois Houbigant of Grasse in 1775. This French perfumery is the earliest fragrance house still in existence and still family-owned.

It has a history that spans over 200 years of success due to an innovative spirit and keeping their beliefs in perfumery, yet expanding with creations that are loved to this very day.
QUELQUES FLEURS ROYALE EAU DE PARFUM is a floral fragrance for women that consist of fruity and oriental notes. It was created in honor of perfumer and founder, Jean-Francois Houbigant that expresses a lighter version than the original QUELQUES FLEURS L’ORIGINAL first created in 1912.

It was created also to celebrate the essence of Princess Adelaide d’Orleans and the bouquet of fresh flowers showered with a fruity sensation indicate that Princess Adelaide loved the oasis of a majestic floral garden. Weekend Dessert- Upside-Down Orange Walnut Cake

Upside-Down Orange Walnut Cake

By Heather Krasovec

Years ago I baked my first pineapple upside-down cake. I loved the way the caramel dripped over the cake and kept it perfectly moist for days to come. Since that day I have experimented with several different variations on the upside-down cake; my absolute favorite is the Orange Walnut Cake. This is the one that makes everyone ask first for a second piece of cake, and second for the recipe.

I tend to try to make everything a little bit healthier, even my desserts. I have included some whole grains but not all (it just wouldn't seem like cake anymore if it were 100% whole grain.) I use walnut oil instead of butter, and honey instead of sugar IN the cake. However, I have found that the caramel topping just doesn't have the right flavor unless I use real sugar and butter. Oh well, everything in moderation, right?

Ingredients

1/3 cup of butter, melted

1/2 cup of sugar

1 teaspoon of dark molasses

1/2 cup of walnut halves

1/2 cup of walnut oil

1/2 cup of honey

2 large chicken eggs

3/4 cup of all-purpose flour

1/2 cup of whole grain oat flour

1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

1/2 teaspoon of baking powder

1/4 teaspoon of sea salt

1/2 teaspoon of ground mace (if you don't have mace you may substitute 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg)

3/4 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice

1/4 cup of plain, unsweetened yogurt

1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

Directions

Heat your oven to 325 degrees F. I prefer to use my toaster oven for this cake, since it will need to bake for at least an hour and it just seems wasteful to run my full-sized oven that long for something so small. But any oven will do.

Combine the melted butter, sugar and molasses. Pour the mixture into an eight inch round cake pan, rolling it around to coat the sides. Neatly arrange the walnut halves in the pan, with the tops of the nuts facing down. Set aside.

Combine the all-purpose flour, oat flour, baking soda, baking powder, sea salt and ground mace in a bowl. Whisk to combine well and aerate the ingredients. In a separate bowl, combine the orange juice, yogurt and vanilla extract. Mix well.

Put the eggs, walnut oil and honey into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle beater. Beat until well combined, starting very slowly to avoid making a mess. Add 1/3 of the flour mixture and beat until barely combined. Add half of the liquid mixture and beat until barely combined. Repeat with the next 1/3 of the flour mixture, then the rest of the liquid mixture and the last 1/3 of the flour mixture. Each time beat until the ingredients are just barely combined.

Pour the batter into the cake pan, being careful not to move the walnuts. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. This should take between 1 hour and 1 hour and 15 minutes, depending on your oven.

Immediately turn the pan upside down onto a serving platter. Be careful, the cake and caramel are extremely hot. Leave the pan on the cake for 10 minutes, then remove and allow the cake to cool completely before serving.

Weekend Wear - 3 Ways to Make Sure Your Weekend Wardrobe Is Working

Weekend Wear - 3 Ways to Make Sure Your Weekend Wardrobe Is Working

By Erin Braxton

As a young girl, I aspired to grow up and be this super sharp, well put-together professional female. Of course I had multiple career dreams where I would wear these high-powered, sleek business suits. They would look just as hot as the career women on The Young & the Restless. I would get them from Spiegel Catalog or Neiman Marcus. And I would look highly sophisticated and important. I never anticipated having a job where I home office the majority of the time and the weekends would be my chance to take my dressing up a notch. But that is exactly what happened. Weekends are my time to get out and about, the same as most people.

Anything is possible on the weekend, so why wouldn't you try to look the best you can just because you're not headed to the boardroom or the club! There is nothing worse than a really bad weekend wardrobe, so here are three ways to make sure your weekend wear is working.

  1. Make the investment. Don't opt for old, torn-up jeans and freebie tees. Even though most of us are looking forward to our days off, and it's not a requirement that we wear stuffy business attire, why not be comfortable and current? Summertime gives you the opportunity to wear breezy summer dresses and cute little sandals. Winter is the time to wear form-flattering sweaters and jeans that hug in all the right places. It's worth the money to feel and look good.

  2. Make the effort. Anything is possible over the weekend. You can see anyone and end up doing any number of things. When you're out shopping and lunching with your girls at some hot little spot, you're most likely to run into other people you know who want to be at that same hot lunch spot. So don't get caught out there slipping. Maybe your makeup is just lipgloss and mascara. Perhaps your hair isn't as coiffed as it is Monday thru Friday. But you still look fresh and put together.

  3. Express your true self. Your weekends are your time. You don't have to dress for some company or client. You can dress for yourself. When we feel good we look good. Don't take that for granted. Have fun with your wardrobe and take opportunities to do things you wouldn't do in your work place.

In a woman's crazy world of work, fun, family and everything else, weekends are the highlight of the week. Make sure you greet them in style.

Tips for a Romantic Evening at Home

Tips for a Romantic Evening at Home

By Candy Carr

When it comes to setting up a romantic evening at home with your special someone, there are still a few people who need help in this specific department. Gone are the days of just having a DVD night or just a simple dinner for two with cheap wine bought online. More is expected when it comes to wooing your woman.
